Around Cape Horn

This rare and fascinating documentary was shot in 1929 by Irving Jonhson, a great admirer of Jack London’s novels. Keen on cinema, he set out on board the tall ship “Peking”, with a camera, never having seen the sea before. Throughout the film, we witness the hard living and tough working conditions of seamen at that time.
It all started when Brigitte and Yvonnick Le Coat, focused on their forfather history, a master of a ship from Paimpol. They then grew a fascination for the cape horners’ epic and worked hard to become experts in this topic. Years after years they kept pursuing their goal: giving seamen the opportunity to be heard through encounters, log books readings and letters.
